Pilates, a system of exercise created by Joseph Pilates, is a fantastic way to strengthen, tone, and increase flexibility in your body. You can do Pilates on a mat or use special machines in a Pilates studio. The following studios near our apartments in Cambridge are great places to start your Pilates journey:

Mind in Motion Pilates

Since 2006, Li Ma-Scholz has been training students in Pilates at her Mind in Motion Pilates studio in Medford. Li has an extensive background in dance and gymnastics and became certified in Authentic Pilates in 2002. Her mission is to use Pilates to help people become more in tune with their bodies and improve how their bodies move. Mind in Motion Pilates offers private and semi-private sessions. Boston Body Pilates (Newbury Street)

Boston Body Pilates is a premier destination for Pilates training, with 6 locations in the Boston area. Their beautiful Newbury Street location is just a 10-minute drive from our Cambridge apartments. They offer a variety of classes with several group and private options, and they have affordable new client specials for new students. Try the Reformer 101 classes; they are great for beginners.

Pilates Back Bay

For Kachina Fredericks, Pilates Back Bay is a labor of love. Trained in dance and theater, Kachina loves all forms of movement. She created Pilates Back Bay as a way to share the healing and transformative power of Pilates with others. Her studio offers standard Pilates classes in private, semi-private, and group-size styles. Additionally, they provide unique Pilates classes, including Pilates for golf, pre and postnatal Pilates, and even special event Pilates (for weddings, etc.). The new client intro package is a terrific way to learn about the studio; give it a try.
